FAQs

Below we have listed a selection of commonly asked questions to the TSG. If you have a question which is not listed, please contact us where we will be pleased to assist you with your enquiry.

Are you the Police?

NO, we are not the police. Although our training, skills, equipment and experience means TSG® can, where applicable, carry out various roles traditionally provided by the Police, such as uniformed patrols or responding to anti-social behavior and incidents of crime.

What is the difference between TSG Officers and Police Constables? You look the same?

TSG Officers do not have the warranted powers of a constable but, warranted powers are not necessary for TSG officers to meet their objectives. There are similarities in our uniform, and most people naturally associate body armour and handcuffs as police equipment only, this is not the case. TSG branding is clearly visible on our officers at all times to clearly distinguish TSG from Police.

Why do you have blue lights and sirens on your vehicles?

Audio and visual warnings are rarely used on our vehicles but, when they are, their purpose is to safely alert people of our passage thus maximising safety of pedestrians and other vehicles when TSG respond to an incident. Our vehicles are specifically insured for blue light driving and our drivers trained.

Can TSG arrest people?

Yes we can, TSG Officers utilise statutory powers to carry out arrests where necessary. Officers have a thorough understanding of the LAW, specialist training ensures their actions are legal and proportionate.
